In this five day portrait workshop, Tony will demonstrate his personal process of “sculpting with paint.”  Beginning with a simple sketch, students will then progress to colour mixing with a full palette, using a wide range of colours that Tony personally uses, and learn to create form with value and colour. 

The focus will be especially on design, colour harmony,  and how the quality of the brushstroke and edges influence form. Over the course of these five days, Tony will demonstrate his personal approach for achieving the objective of the day.  Participants will receive daily individual guidance and feedback  on their progress.

This workshop is intended for all those who interested in oil painting, especially, the human figure and portraiture.

Born in Extremadura, Spain, Tony studied Fine Arts at the University of Salamanca, specializing in drawing. Later, he entered the Barcelona Academy of Art, where after completing his training, he joined the teaching staff. Furthering his teaching skills as a tutor at the Academy of Art Germany, in Bad Homburg, Germany, he returned to Catalonia, where he currently teaches drawing and painting at the Estudi Artístic de Barcelona. His personal work, inspired by Impressionism and characterized by a naturalistic approach, delves into the intersubjective relationship of the body with others. This dynamic further catalysed by its environment serves as a vector for consideration and analysis of the paradoxes and tensions that permeate the contemporary individual.
